Mets sign Niuman Romero to minors contract
According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, the Mets have signed infielder Niuman Romero, and assigned to Double-A Binghamton.
The 26 year old Romero appeared in two games for Boston last season, and is a career .111 hitter in 12 games with the Indians and Red Sox. He’s hit .250 with a .331 on base percentage in seven minor league seasons.

The Red Sox designated Niuman Romero for assignment to make room for Ryan Shealy, according to Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com (via Twitter). The 25-year-old Romero appeared in one game at first and another at second, but did not reach base in four plate appearances this year.
