It's Time To Calculate the WBC's Effect on Pitchers

Now that we've made it into the the dog days of August, we can fairly take a look at the pitchers who participated in the World Baseball Classic and see if they're more worn out than they should be at this point. Kevin Hench at FOX Sports does just that, with some startling results. Pitcher after   more...

The Royals Will Win at Least 70 Games

With the Gil Meche signing, Dotel signing, and superprospects Alex Gordon and Luke Hochevar coming up, the Royals may be able to steal a few games from some teams. Add to the mix, the possibility of Zach Greinke coming back midseason or winning a spot out of spring training (who posted a sub 4 era   more...

My Team Can Beat Your Team

Spring training officially begins tomorrow, albeit only pitchers and catchers reporting. Even with teams gearing up for the regular season there are still plenty of options on the free agent market for teams looking to fill a void, create competition, or build depth. I decided to give some of these   more...

Dodgers still suck

The Dodgers have still only won one game since the AllStar Break. And they still are the only team in the Majors to lose every extra inning game, like the one last night against the division leading Padres. They sent Odalis Perez out for Elmer Dessens (A former Dodger)...That may help pitching,   more...

What's worse? Nationals or Astros rotation

With the recent announcements today from both the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros I found myself wondering what was worse. Were the Nationals worse off with a bunch of guys who had no big league experience or the Astros who have an ace but a rag tag group of injury prone or other wise long   more...

Mets Talking to Perez

According to the New York Post the New York Mets, who have been unable to deal for a front-line starter, also are reportedly talking to free-agent pitcher Odalis Perez, who was 8-11 for the Royals last season. The nine-year veteran is 66-70 lifetime with a 4.21 ERA.

Nats Need to Make a Few Changes

This blogger from our friends at East Coast Bias (and ardent supporter of the Nationals) feels that it's high time to make some changes to the ballclub, and is fed up at the lack of hustle, the mental mistakes, and the lack of accountability by the players.

Odalis Perez to Phils?

The Phillies are still hunting for pitching, but rather than turning to Kyle Lohse (who still wants many millions and many years), they're shifting their attention to lefty Odalis Perez. Some of the Phils people flew down to the Dominican Republic to have Odalis pitch for them, and he was quoted   more...

Odalis Perez Traded to the Royals

Just as I was about to respond to BuntCake's article suggesting the Dodgers trade disgruntled and ineffective SP/RP Odalis Perez, a report from rotoworld says LA did just that. It appears the Royals acquired LHP Odalis Perez, RHP Blake Johnson, RHP Julio Pimentel and cash considerations for for   more...

Thoughts on Nats walk-off opener

What a first game in a new ballpark, a walk-off homerun, following a blown save to avoid extra innings. WOW. I'm going to give you my thoughts on tonight's opener, the Atlanta Braves vs Washington Nationals. Being that I did play-by-play for the game tonight at work, I was able to keep a detailed   more...

Non Roster Invitee: Odalis Perez

Perhaps no team in baseball has more uncertainty about their starting rotation then the Washington Nationals. Their opening day starter projects to be a guy who was trying to make the team last year in Shawn Hill (16 starts in 2007) followed by John Patterson who is still rehabbing from injuries.   more...
