Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez was recalled by the team today, over two months after being placed on the disabled list in mid-May with a quadriceps injury.

Pedro Alvarez Continues to Impress in Triple-A
Third baseman Pedro Alvarez, the second overall pick in the 2008 MLB Draft, is heating up.
He went 3-for-4 in last night’s game, hitting a solo shot. It was his second home run in as many nights.
Pedro has collected hits in four straight games, and is batting .467 in that span.
