The team announced the one-year agreements Monday.

Coke To Stay In Pen
All I have to say for those of you were hoping for Phil Coke to rejoin the Detroit Tigers rotation, I say too bad. In my opinion, Coke was at his best in the rotation, he just looked so much more comfortable in that kind of role. It sounds like the key people in the Tigers organization feel the same way, mainly general manager Dave Dombrowski.
“I saw that written somewhere...

Winds of change in Detroit, but pitching woes remain
After another rough outing for Phil Coke, the Detroit Tigers finally decided to send the pitcher back to the bullpen to serve as a reliever for the remainder of the season.
At right about the halfway point of the year, manager Jim Leyland said it just wasn’t working out for Coke to be a starter.
In his most recent start, Coke and the Tigers faced the New York Mets who pounded the...

Dombrowski Strikes Out Again, Rick Knapp Loses Job
Detroit Tigers General Manager Dave Dombrowski’s poor decisions has led to the departure of pitching coach Rick Knapp. Lets take a step back in time and look what brought us to this point. At the beginning of the year, Dombrowski wanted Phil Coke to be a starter. Coke had a good year last year but doesn’t have enough stuff to be a starting pitcher and it showed...

Tigers Move Coke To Bullpen
When the Detroit Tigers acquire Phil Coke in early 2010, they floated the idea of using him as a starter. Although he had appeared exclusively in relief as a major leaguer, Coke worked as a starter in the minor leagues until his promotion to Triple-A in 2008. Ultimately, the Tigers decided to kept him in the bullpen for the 2010 season (although he did make one start at the end)...

Phil Coke Is Shaky In Return
The Indians lost again yesterday and a Tigers win would have put them just a half game back of first place. It wasn’t to be though because the Rangers bounced back on Phil Coke, who made his return to the rotation last night. He gave up six runs on ten hits and he didn’t strike [...]

Coke to DL, Oliver to Start Saturday
Jason Beck has reported that the Tigers have placed Phil Coke on the 15-day disabled list with a bone bruise in his foot suffered last night trying to field a bunt. Coke will be replaced in the rotation by left-handed pitcher Andy Oliver. This is unfortunate timing given that the Tigers have another series versus the lefty-heavy Red Sox line-up coming up this weekend Coke had pitched seven
