R.A. Dickey to Have 3 Knuckle Ball Speeds?

Metsblog posted today portions of fan Q&A with R.A. Dickey. At one point, Dickey was asked if he was going to still throw two speeds of Knuckleballs, to which he responded “3″. What does this actually mean? I haven’t found anything about him pitching or practicing yet an even faster knuckleball, or a slower one, so I doubt that (although if someone can find...

Mets Card of the Week: 2012 R.A. Dickey

2012 TOPPS R.A. DICKEY Who needs Punxsatawney Phil? I prefer my predictive tools in pack form. So there I was in Target on February 2, gazing at all manner of configurations of the new 2012 Topps baseball cards. I grabbed a 72-card pack, a couple of racks, and a few wax packs. By my reckoning, if I unwrapped a meager selection of Mets in this first sampling, winter would continue...

Dickey Is The Best Choice For Mets Ace If Johan Isn’t Ready

With the uncertainty of Johan Santana being ready for Opening Day, the idea of R.A. Dickey being the Mets opening day starter are starting to take shape around Metsland.  Dickey was at the Munson Dinner last night where he addressed that possibility with reporters. I certainly hope that’s not the case. My first reaction would obviously be that I would be honored to do it, but...

Dickey Is A Good Pitcher On A Bad Team

Fake Teams takes a look at some good starting pitchers who are toiling for bad teams and lists our own R.A. Dickey among his five picks. Yes, he is 37-years old. But, in knuckleball years, he is really like 27. Now that he has returned from climbing Mt. Kilmanjaro, with all his fingers and toes, Dickey should continue his surprising success against National League hitters. Over the...

R.A. Dickey starts climbing anyway

Robert Allen Dickey certainly isn’t a normal baseball player. First off, he’s a knuckleballer so that automatically makes him weird. Second, he loves Star Wars. Like, he really likes Star Wars. So when Dickey announced that he wanted to bike up Mount Kilimanjaro I thought, “yeah, that’s about right”. When the Mets front office heard about this they weren’t too excited...

Mets Rightfully Ask That Dickey Not Climb Kilimanjaro

As reported by several news outlets today, the New York Mets have asked that R.A. Dickey not climb Mount Kilimanjaro this winter.  Dickey, who has planned this trip as a fundraiser for the Bombay Teen Challenge, is still reportedly planning on making the trip, however it will be against the team's wishes.  In a letter to Dickey the Mets basically said that they reserve the right...
