Sad Day for Pinto

The Marlins designated Renyel Pinto for assignment. Some team will pick him up since he still strikes out about a batter per inning. Maybe there’s a pitching coach who can get his walks under control. He does hold a 2.70 ERA this year and 3.62 for his career. I wonder if there’s something deeper (like personality issues) to the release. Even if he doesn’t play...

Finally! Fish Get Rid of Renyel Pinto

The Marlins may have lost last night, but last night sure was a win for every Marlins fan. Just minutes after giving up a home run to the Rangers' Josh Hamilton in the 9th inning of a 3-6 mess, Renyel Pinto was exploded safely over a large body of water.Er, designated for assignment. Finally! Pinto, you see, is a reliever who's no relief at all. He's a lefty who can'...

Florida Marlins: LHP Renyel Pinto designated for assignment

What a great time to be a Marlins fan. In a span of nine days, much ballyhooed prospect Mike Stanton arrived and much maligned reliever Renyel Pinto departed. Wednesday will go down as a loss in the standings, but for those who live and die with the Fish the final outcome was a victory. It might not be a stretch to say Pinto was one of the most dispised players in franchise history...

Bad Day for the Namesake

Renyel Pinto comes in to the Marlins/Nationals game to face Adam Dunn in a tie game in the bottom of the eighth. The bases were loaded with one out, and Pinto plunked Dunn. That drove in the fifth run of the game for the Nationals, and they lead 5-4 as Matt Capps comes on for the save in the ninth.

Pinto’s hit-suppressing ways

Renyel Pinto has been a staple in the Marlins bullpen since coming over from the Chicago Cubs in 2006. In that time, he has not endeared himself to faithful Marlins fans due to his roller-coaster, up-and-down pitching performance. I’ve always shared this sentiment myself, as I could never stand Pinto’s inability to put pitches in [...]
