Baseball America is reporting that the Diamondbacks have released left-handed reliever Ron Mahay.
The veteran has been getting lit up at Triple A Reno (9.58 ERA in 10.1 IP) after Arizona signed him to a minor league deal last month.
The Red Sox could be interested in Mahay to help solve the lack of left-handed depth in their bullpen.

The Dodgers have released veteran lefty reliever Ron Mahay. Mahay pitched in 8 games (0 starts) for the Dodgers this spring and he was 0-0 with 1 save, a 9.82 ERA and a 2.05 WHIP. He gave up a stunning 3 homers in only 7 1/3 innings this spring as he got hit hard. Mahay appears to be running out of gas, so the Dodgers made the right move in cutting him loose.
