The 29-year-old righty became a free agent after refusing an assignment to the Mariners' Triple A team. This is what happens to teams that suddenly find themselves angling for a playoff berth. Guys start to perform in ways not expected. Hitters not known for hitting suddenly do. Corcoran activated, Johnson placed on bereavement list
The Mariners have activated relief pitcher Roy Corcoran, who has been on the disabled list since April 30 with a strained neck. Corcoran is at Coors Field and will be in uniform tonight.
Corcoran, for now, will take the roster spot of catcher Rob Johnson, who was placed on the bereavement list. No details yet available, except that it's a family emergency.
