Pirates Keep Sean Gallagher
Gallagher will remain in the Pirates' organization for the 2011 season.
Last week the Pirates outrighted several players from the 40-man roster, including Sean Gallagher. It was believed that Gallagher would be eligible for free agency, although at the time I thought he still had a year before he was eligible
:
By my calculations, Gallagher wouldn't be eligible for minor...

Bucs Add Sean Gallagher – Remind Catch Why He Was Angry About Eveland
Hey. Hey, guys. Do you remember that time that we traded Ronald Uviedo (John Sickels’ #10 Pirate prospect) for a player that the Blue Jays were going to place on waivers because we desperately needed a starter? I sure do. And yesterday we saw exactly why you don’t do things like that as the PBC [...]

Sean Gallagher Traded to Pittsburgh
Recently DFA’d righthander Sean Gallagher has been shipped to the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash.
It’s tough to argue with getting something for nothing, and extra cash is certainly helpful as the team considers buying at the trade deadline. Still, it would have been nice to see the Padres be able to get a player for Gallagher, or be able to send him to the minors.
It was...

Gallagher dealt to Pirates
The San Diego Padres acquired RHP Sean Gallagher as the PTBNL in the Scott Hairston trade last summer (that also netted Ryan Webb and Craig Italiano). Now the Padres have traded Gallagher to the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash considerations, after designating him for assignment last week to make room for Tim Stauffer.
Gallagher’s solid minor league track record has not yet translated...

Pirates acquire Sean Gallagher from San Diego
The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired right handed pitcher Sean Gallagher from the San Diego Padres in exchange for cash, according to Rob Biertempfel. Gallagher, once a top prospect in the Chicago Cubs farm system, has yet to put things together in the majors, mostly due to poor control. Before being designated for assignment by San Diego, the 24 year old right hander had a 5.40...

Gallagher Turns In Strong Outing, Possibly Saves Roster Spot
When Sean Gallagher entered Sunday’s game in the second inning, his roster spot was on the line.
Hampered by an early-season injury, Gallagher had walked more than he had struck out. In 14 innings, he’d walked 14 batters. That put his FIP at an ugly 7.38.
With Tim Stauffer due back from the DL any day now (he’s on rehab in AAA), someone has to go. The player initially called...

Gallagher K’s 5 in 3 AAA Innings
Sean Gallagher’s second rehabiliation start at AAA Portland was strong. Yes, he allowed two earned runs on five hits in three innings, but he also struck out five and walked just one in the game.
That leaves Gallagher’s K/BB at 8/1 in seven innings there across two starts.
This looks more like the Gallagher that impressed this spring than the one who walked 13 batters in 13 innings...

Good News on Gallagher’s Rehab
Sean Gallagher had his first rehab appearance earlier this week in Triple-A, and he actually got the start, working four innings.
They were good innings, too. Four hits, one run, three strikeouts.
And no walks.
That’s significant, of course, because Sean Gallagher has walked seemingly everybody with the Padres this year. The big righty issued 13 free passes in 13 innings. He struck...
