The A’s agreed to minor league deals with right-hander Willie Eyre and left-hander Travis Blackley, according to the team. Both will report to big league spring training as non-roster invitees.
Eyre, 32, spent the 2010 season at Triple-A in the Rangers organization. He posted a 3.50 ERA with 7.4 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9 in 72 innings. His big league numbers are less impressive, though...

Add Blackley to the left handed pool...
The Mets really need a second lefty out of the bullpen, last year they tried to go with just Feliciano and even before the injuries, the cross over righties weren't getting the job done against good left handed hitters. As much as they've used Feliciano, they're really asking for an injury which would be devastating for this pen.Once again the Mets have chose not to bring...

Travis Blackley signs with Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamonbacks have added a Texas League pitcher of the year to their 40-man roster. Of course the year Travis Blackley was the Texas League pitcher of the year was 2003 and arm troubles have robbed him of his career.

On the Farm - July 8th
On Sunday night, Iron Pigs starter Les Walrond made history. J. D. Durbin placed on waivers, Blackley clears
*J. D. Durbin waived: Looks like the Phillies finally got fed up with J.D. Durbin's 12.33 spring ERA, because they placed him on waivers today. This move was a long time coming given how terrible he has looked this spring.
*Travis Blackley clears waivers: On Tuesday, Travis Blackley was placed on waivers, and today we learn that he has cleared and has been outrighted to AAA Lehigh Valley.

Phils Minor Move: Holdzkom a Free Agent
Things were quiet from Phillies camp yesterday as they relaxed on an off day. They did make one minor move, taking Rule 5 draftee Lincoln Holdzkom off their 40 man roster, making him a free agent. Since he was taken in the Rule 5 draft, the Phillies had to offer him back to his original team, the Red Sox, who refused Holdzkom, making him free to sign with any team.

The Sluggish Race for the Phillies 5th Starter
Yesterday I wrote a piece about Adam Eaton and his struggles this spring. Eaton is the leading candidate for the 5th starter spot, but with the terrible spring he is having, he is losing his grip on the spot. Too bad there isn't anyone stepping up to take it away from him.
Here are the Spring Training statistics so far for all of the 5th starter candidates:
