Boston Athlete of the Day: Trot Nixon
It's rare that I pick a non-Celtic to highlight. But, as one of my favorite all-time Red Sox, I felt it necessary to honor Trot. For starters, most don't know his real name, Christopher Trotman Nixon. That's your fact of the day for those sports nuts out there. He also went by, "The Original Dirt Dog," leading a group of scrappy Sox in the mid-2000's.

While Nixon wasn't much of a boost to the Mets' offense, teams could still look to patch up holes without breaking the bank by acquiring veterans stuck in the minors. Let's take at some guys who have been performing well down in...

Nixon returning... playing rehab games
On July 18 it was announced that Trot Nixon under went hernia surgery and it was believed that the recovery process would essentially end his season. It might be that Nixon is Omar's ace in the hole and why he hasn't been pressed to obtain an outfielder. When both Alou and Church went down, Nixon was the player they wanted to fill-in for them and then become a part of the...

An Ode to Trot Nixon
It's always a great time to get a group of friends together and reminisce about past Red Sox teams and players. Trot Nixon was a always a guy who came up in conversation, and it's because of the way he played the game. Nixon was always one of those guys who gave it all he could each and every day, a true scrapper of the game. Their's no measure for heart in baseball...
