Extension Candidate: Tyler Clippard
The Washington Nationals are clearly a team on the rise, combining a young rotation (Jordan Zimmermann, Stephen Strasburg, Gio Gonzalez) with an improving offense (Ryan Zimmerman, Mike Morse, Danny Espinosa, Wilson Ramos, eventually Bryce Harper) and a solid bullpen. Part of that bullpen is setup man Tyler Clippard, who's been one of the game's best relievers since...

Tyler Clippard's rally goggles ineffective

Tyler Clippard did his job Sunday, pitching a scoreless 8th against the Reds to maintain a 3-3 game; but then Drew Storen blew a 4-3 Nats lead in the 9th, coughing up a game-tying home run to Yonder Alonso.
And so all Tyler Clippard could do was flip his patented goggles...

Tyler Clippard has odd All-Star Game appearance
Only one player represented the Washington Nationals in the 2011 MLB All-Star game and that was relief pitcher Tyler Clippard. The reliable righty came into the game in the 4th inning with two runners on and two outs. Forget the fact that an 8th inning guy pitched that early, ’cause that wasn’t the strange part.
Clippard faced one batter and then left the game. Rangers...

Tyler Clippard Is Damn Near Strasburgian
Strasburg is all the rage right now, as he should be, but let’s not forget the guy he handed a lead to in the eighth, middle reliever extraordinaire Tyler Clippard. Nats Journal shares this astounding stat:
[The Pirates swung and] missed 18 times [on Strasburg pitches last night], 43.9 percent of their swings. For perspective, the highest percentage among qualifying pitchers...
