The Royals continued to tweak their 40-man roster Tuesday by sending pitchers Lenny DiNardo and Yasuhiko Yabuta to Class AAA Omaha on outright assignments after they cleared waivers. Royals notebook: Mahay designated for assignment; Yabuta returns
Veteran reliever Ron Mahay took the fall Monday for an underperforming bullpen when he was designated for assignment by the Royals to clear roster space for Yasuhiko Yabuta’s return from Class AAA Omaha. “They needed to make a spot,” Mahay said, “and I was the odd man out.
