Lofgren is now taking the Rick Ankiel path to the majors. According to the San Jose Mercury News, Giants minor league pitcher Chuck Lofgren will be stepping up to the plate again. Giants re-sign Chuck Lofgren

The Giants have re-signed LHP Chuck Lofgren, according to Baseball America’s minor-league free agent database. The 25-year-old lefty spent time in San Jose, Richmond, and Fresno this season, but was pretty underwhelming: 4.31 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and a 1.30 K/BB in 79.1 innings. Lofgren made Baseball America’s top 100 prospect rankings back in 2007 and 2008.
