Roster Watch: Eric Fryer
Eric Fryer has actually already been removed from the roster. In fact, Fryer has already signed on with the Minnesota Twins, so he will not be back. This is really no great loss, as his status as a prospect was pretty weak to begin with, and overall very short-lived. The Pirates acquired Fryer for disgruntled [...]

The Pittsburgh Pirates have outrighted Daniel McCutchen, Jeff Clement, and Eric Fryer to Triple-A Indianapolis. We previously heard that Clement and Fryer had been designated for assignment when the team created room for the waiver claims of Chad Beck and Ali Solis. This is the first we’ve heard that McCutchen was removed from the 40-man roster.

Thursday 7/19 Minor League Roundup
AAA Indianapolis | Indianapolis 5 Gwinnett 4 (10 innings) Eric Fryer hit a pinch-hit walk-off bases-loaded RBI single in the 10th inning to top Gwinnett. Fryer has finally hit a little lately since his brief major-league stint, he's at .500 in a mere 12 July at bats to raise his average to .198, but that looks a lot better than where he was a few weeks ago. Another player who...

Pirates Add Six Non-Roster Invitees to Spring Training
The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced that they’ve added six non-roster invitees to Spring Training. The new additions are Gerrit Cole, Michael Crotta, Ramon Cabrera, Eric Fryer, Tony Sanchez, and Robbie Grossman.
Of the group, only Crotta and Fryer have major league experience, both spending time in the majors in 2011. I don’t see any of the group making the majors out of Spring...

Pirates protect six prospects, DFA Paul & Fryer
The Pirates filled up their 40-man roster tonight by adding Matt Hague, Starling Marte, Jordy Mercer, Rudy Owens, Duke Welker & Justin Wilson. To make room, they designated Xavier Paul and Eric Fryer for assignment.
None of the additions are surprises at all – I’d say pretty much all of them were locks, minus maybe Welker. Those added are now safe from being plucked by another...
