Buckeyes Hope To Make Big-League Impact
Last summer was a big one for a group of friends from the Ohio State baseball program who made impacts on Major League Baseball. Ohio State's draft class of 2007 – Cory Luebke, Matt Angle and Eric Fryer – reached the majors at the same time last year, and the Buckeyes hope to go even further in 2012.

Pirates Add Six Non-Roster Invitees to Spring Training
The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced that they’ve added six non-roster invitees to Spring Training. The new additions are Gerrit Cole, Michael Crotta, Ramon Cabrera, Eric Fryer, Tony Sanchez, and Robbie Grossman.
Of the group, only Crotta and Fryer have major league experience, both spending time in the majors in 2011. I don’t see any of the group making the majors out...

Pirates catcher Eric Fryer cleared waivers, according to Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com. The 26-year-old had been designated for assignment last week. Fryer appeared in ten games for the 2011 Pirates, but has spent the vast majority of his five professional seasons in the minor leagues, where he has a .799 OPS.

The Pirates filled up their 40-man roster tonight by adding Matt Hague, Starling Marte, Jordy Mercer, Rudy Owens, Duke Welker & Justin Wilson. To make room, they designated Xavier Paul and Eric Fryer for assignment.
None of the additions are surprises at all – I’d say pretty much all of them were locks, minus maybe Welker. Those added are now safe from being plucked...
