Twins' Vasquez looks to build off last win

The Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins are done playing games that have any playoff implications. They'll both be done with the season following a three-game series that starts Monday night at Rogers Centre. After splitting a four-game set with the New York Yankees, who are tied with Baltimore for the AL East lead, the Blue Jays (70-89) are closing what's been a rough...

Vasquez takes on Yankees looking for first win

The New York Yankees are on a roll, and their seemingly favorable schedule could eventually result in another AL East title. Phil Hughes is looking to continue his own strong stretch on the mound, and the offense may be of some help again. Vasquez, Twins aim for sweep of Indians

One bright spot during the Minnesota Twins' dismal season might be how well they've played against the Cleveland Indians. Despite loss, Gardenhire happy with Vasquez

Esmerling Vasquez has had a cup of coffee in the major leagues before, appearing in 31 total games with the Arizona Diamondbacks during the 2009-11 seasons. But it wasn't until Sunday in Kansas City that the Twins right-hander took the mound to start a game in the majors. Not only was Sunday the first career MLB start for Vasquez, but it was also his Minnesota Twins debut. Vasquez...

Vasquez makes Twins debut against Royals

As well as the Kansas City Royals have played over the last month, particularly against their own division, they can't seem to figure out the Minnesota Twins. The Royals will try to avoid a three-game sweep and an eighth loss in nine games to the Twins on Sunday. An 18-11 stretch between July 31 and Aug. 30 helped Kansas City climb out of the American League cellar and it was...
