The Rangers signed right-hander Fabio Castillo and catcher Chris Robinson to Minor League contracts with invitations to the team's Major League camp, the club announced Thursday.
The Rangers extended offers to all seven of their arbitration-eligible veterans prior to Monday night's 11 p.m. CT deadline, but chose to non-tender young right-handed reliever Fabio Castillo.
The Texas Rangers have decided against tendering a contract to right-handed pitcher Fabio Castillo.
Castillo, 22, spent the entire 2011 season pitching for Double A Frisco, going 3-6 with a 6.36 ERA and nine saves pitching exclusively in relief.
Non-tendering Castillo makes him a free agent. Castillo has been with the organization since 2006 but didnt advance beyond Double A.
