The Rangers have agreed to minor league contracts with infielder Kensuke Tanaka (kin-SOO-kay teh-NAH-kuh) and pitchers Ryan Feierabend (FEAR-ahh-bend) and Daniel McCutchen.
Tanaka, who made his major league debut at 32 with San Francisco last season, will be in major league camp along with Feierabend.

A team grasping at straws, the Giants made two moves before Tuesday’s game against the Mets.
First, they placed Hector Sanchez on the disabled list with an injury I care less about than Phish cares about brevity. Mike Kickham gets his third trip to the big-league roster to replace the Giants’ third catcher. But the bizarre move was the call-up of Kensuke Tanaka, the Japanese...
Just your average Tuesday as the San Francisco Giants made a flurry of roster moves before tonight’s starting lineup was announced at AT&T Park.
As earlier reported, the Giants signed Jeff Francoeur to a minor league contract. The outfielder will report to triple-A Fresno and start in left field tonight for the Grizzlies. Francoeur hit .208 (38-for-183) with three home runs...
The San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s are struggling right now.

John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle points out that Pablo Sandoval was named the MVP of the Venezuelan championship series.
I’m sure that MVP trophy...
I admit it: I’ve been one of those guys hoping for the Giants to dive into the Japanese market for players for a while.
It’s a big risk: for the best players, there’s a big ‘Posting fee’ that the team would have to pay before even being able to negotiate a salary, but it’s an enticing one. It’s not just because that Japanese players are an untapped market (it’s...
