He's DONE! he wasnt that good to begin with!
  • athletics68
No he was good. Go back and watch his fights 2 years ago. But he's never recovered from that first KO by Rampage.

UFC is all about Brock now
    • I really hope not. That guy has too much WWE stink on him for me to like him.

He may have been good at one time, but was very one dimensional. He would need much more to be a force today.

absolutely agree... you have guys out there now who are really pushing themselves to be very well rounded athletes and complete in various styles. Can't wait to see what's going to happen if/when Fedor steps into the UFC game...Go Ruskis! love that man
  • I've always hated Chuck ever since I caught that interview of him talking shit on Fedor; saying how easy it would be to beat him, and he fights only no-names.... Well he proved him wrong a few weeks ago, and now Liddell gets his ass knocked out... I always knew Liddell was weak, this just proves it. His career as a legend just vanished the moment his lifeless body hit the mat. He was an all-striker sort of fighter, and once people got wind on how to deal with him, he's losing every fight; and thats because he's a loser. I hope he gets that Fedor fight so so Fedor would kill him and put Dana White in hit place.

I would have to say his loss was due to losing his aura of invinceability.
  • Can we please try to keep this site spoiler free. Every once in a while I can't see the pay-per-view so i come here the next day to find some links to fights. And pretty much everytime someone posts an outcome in the title like this one 'Is Chuck's career over?' I'm serious;y thinking about washing my hands of this place and going to a new site.

It's called the " Matt Hughes syndrome", out with the old, in with the new. It's was exiting to watch Liddell knock people out, but loading up on your big right hand doesn't cut it in today's mma. It's a testament to Liddell's speed an accuracy that his very one dimensional style took him to such heights. It's also a testament to the foolishness and poor fightplanning of the old guard which inhabit Liddell's win column. I mean the man has been keeping his hands about waist high for a couple of years now, someone was bound to figure it out. I just wish he would retire, it's always sad to see fighters who have managed to take minimal damage over the years and make a good living with their trade diminish their legacy and first and foremost put their health at risk, trying to prove to to themselves that they can still do it.

This is the outcome of being unable to evolve with your chosen sport.

Congrats Rashad and very well deserved!! The new UFC is beginning - stronger fighters, better rounded and a focus to make this sport legitimately respected everywhere.

  • Rashad isnt well rounded. He has ko power and hes a wrestler.Rampage will murder his ass.But I will be rooting for rashad against forrest griffen.I love to see a ko on forrest ,just like the one on chuck. Chuck had a great run and I have a lot of respect for his accomplishments, hes just getin old man.
  • its not called the matt hughes syndrome, fighters these days need to be well rounded, not one dimensional, ie rich franklin, brock lesnar, shinya aoki, and of course "the ice man", and umm for rashad and griffin, umm idk griffen is well rounded. i see ground and pound coming from evans, and technical fighting coming from griffin

Pretty much what I mean by the Matt Hughes syndrome, Matt was a great champ an everything but could never have piled up so many title defenses with his limited, yet succesfull at the time, arsenal. Liddell and Hughes started when the sport was ultimate fighting. The new breed are actual mix martial artists.

Forrest is not as much a natural athlete with the agility that others in MMA enjoy, he has to really work hard to stay on top. It won't be easy for him.
  • PrepChamps
Looking forward to seeing an Evans - Griffin fight.
  • almightyspy75
Give 'em his contract and get rid of him....same for Brock.

I think Chuck Liddell's reputation is what carried him threw most of his championship defenses. It happens all the time. Nobody thought they could beat The Iceman. Did anyone watch the Babalu fight. Or the Tito O)rtiz fight. They fought scared. It took Rampage to knock him out to dispell the fear factor. Roy Jones Jr was the same way. Once Tarver got him, everyone else knew they had a chance. Chuck Liddell is one of the best MMA fighters of all time, but it's definitely time to hang it up.
  • Meanwhile, will Randy Couture defeat Brock? I personally hope so. Should he accomplish that feat will the Randy vs. Fedor finally happen only too late for the aging Couture? Don't get me wrong. If anybody could pull an upset, the magic is on Randy's side. I'll be cheering all the way.
