From Vegas dancer to Octagon Girl
Watching Randy Couture vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira from UFC 102 was a bittersweet pleasure. It conjured memories of Captain America's beatdowns of America's Worst Nightmare (Tim Sylvia) and The Brazilian Invasion (Gabriel Gonzaga). It took me through the nostalgia lane of Big Nog's Pride days, when he submitted Cro Cop and showed mad heart against Fedor Emelianenko.

Couture-Nogueira was a f***in' good fight, but when I woke up, I realized it was all a wet dream.

Couture-Nogueira was like the old lover who may creep up on your mind sometimes, especially if the nights were filled with heat and passion. You may fantasize about her devouring you again, but it ain't happenin' : It's over.

Couture-Nogueira was a f***in' good fight, but it was one for the hardcore fans, or the ones who just wanted to see some action and star power - neither Couture nor Nogueira are likely to contend for the UFC heavyweight title again.

Randy Couture is 46. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is the same Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira that got his ass kicked by Frank Mir : He still has a chin that's taken way too much punishment over the years.

Don't get me wrong. Couture and Nogueira are still world class fighters and consummate professionals.

But the UFC's heavyweight division is now Brock Lesnar's world. And Shane Carwin is next in line.

Natasha Wicks is in as the new UFC Octagon Girl, but as far as titles go for Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, it's over.

Randy Couture leaning toward move back to light heavyweight

By FiveKnuckles.com Staff September 03, 2009"I'm especially leaning towards dropping down. I'm pushing in weight. It would be easy for me to make 205 and there's more interesting fights there right now. I kind of got moved off that track losing the decision Saturday anyways. I don't know how realistic it is to think I'm going to be the guy in line to fight...

If Mir feels it’s an excuse, then lets get in the Octagon and see whether it’s an excuse or a reason in December and settle it. I’d love to fight [...]

Frank Mir and UFC 102

One of the more interesting developments coming out of UFC 102 has been the way Antonio Nogueira’s loss to Frank Mir has been diminished.
