Welterweight challenger Thiago Alves, who meats UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre on July 11th at UFC 100, has predicted he’ll shock the world with a knockout of GSP in a recent interview with MMAjunkie: “I’m not just going to win, I’m going to knock him out. I’m going to shock the world. You have to do this for a reason. I want to make history. At (UFC) 100 I have a chance to make history, and I will make history. I promise you that. I’ve been asking for it, and you get in life ...

GSP is going to win hands down, but ...... anything can happen, lets just hope all the cards are in Georges' hands that night!

It definitely would be a shock to the world...

Here we go again somebody else running his mouth, whenever this happen the fight usually sucks.I am going to be optimistic and hopefully GSP will do what he does best, but in 3 or 4 rounds.
  • MrShickadance
I feel very confident that GSP will remain the champ, but like GSP often says :"Alves bring many problems to the table, but I truly believe I have the tools to solve them"
  • cowboysfan1
what do you expect him to say?" I think I'm going to lose?" you have to have the mentality you are going to kill the guy going in to an mma fight. that is just the nature of the sport

It's funny how Georges likes to beat his opponents at there own game, I wouldn't be surprised to see Georges land some leg kicks of his own and take Alves out of his game. Best defence is a good offence, out wrestling Koscheck was hilarious, it sure shut him up.

Sorry GSP fans but I want Alves to knock him off his perch, just like I want someone to know Anderson Silva & Fedor knocked off theirs.
    • BCswede
No need to apologize, we all have a right to our own opinions.... I 'm rooting for GSP but I do agree with you, I'd like to see Fedor and Silva brought down to earth.
  • Nipshank
We all have our opinions, thats what makes this site worth our time; if we all agreed yardbarker would be a lil boring. As for GSP, Silva and Fedor getting knocked off their "perch's", I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Who cares about soon, as long as it happens!!!!!!!!!!!
      • Why don't you do it???? Because you can't!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've never heard of a jealous shark before. LOL!!!

As the old saying goes: "be careful what you wish for" If Alves comes out with bombs and dosen't connect.......it leaves his chin wide open and GSP will be making history for his first KO. Wanderlai found out that lesson that hardway.
  • I don't envy anyone their rightfully earned success. I'd expect Him to be positive, otherwise why would he take the fight. If these guys deserve their place in the sport, I say, way to go. I don't think anyone handed them the titles, threw a fight, or made it easy for them. I know Georges is a great fighter,, and I'm pulling for him. I don't wish anyone defeat, just because they are successful, he earned everybit of what he's got!

GSP know how to take care of trash talkers,it's his motovation.

I hope Alves backs it up cause I'd LOVE to see GSP laid out on the mat. That said, I DO NOT think its going to happen, and Alves is about to be another victim. (damnit). And to the guy wanting Silva brought down a peg, aint happening. He is COASTING through that division. He's phoning fights in at this point because there is NO ONE in that weight class that can handle him at even 75%. Even if Griffin comes down to fight him, hes gonna get man handled. The closest thing to competition this guy has is Thales Leites. Im anxious to see BJ Penn and Kenny Florian! That should be a good fight. And the battle of the douchebag, Hughes vs Serra. I would like to see them knock EACH OTHER out. lol
    • jerseu_devil
correction, if Anderson GOES UP to Forrest.*
      • BCswede
Thales Leites the closest thing to competition?, did you not see the fight?, you hit the nail on the head when you said coasting. Marquardt lost to Leites only because of points deducted, if they fought again my moneys all on Nate. I know Silva is P4P material, I just want to see him fight like a it, no more circus act. One things for sure, Forrest will make him fight and not play.
        • jerseu_devil
Im just saying, who else in that division can handle Silva? Bisbing? Please. Cote? Remember what happened to Chris Leben? Nate Quarry gets folded up by big name fighters (Franklin almost killed him. I thought he broke a brain stem....lol). The only dude that I could see CHALLENGING Silva in that division is Evan Tanner or Pat Militich....and unless someones got a time machine, that ain't happening either. (too soon? lol) You are right though that Forrest will make him fight at least, but for how long? As soon as Silva realizes that theres no way he's knocking Forrest out, and he gets hit a few times, he'll flip the switch. I'd like to see the Champ Killer, Rashaad Evans fight him. I'll pay for THAT.....or even Rampage.
    • crazycanuck
I'd love to see Cote vs Silva 2. If anyone can take and dish a punch. It's Cote.

I am honestly worried about this being a letdown fight for GSP. I hope he proves me wrong, but after the emotional high followed by ridiculous controversy of his last fight, I am a little worried. Maybe it's just the memory of the Serra shocker in my head, and I like I said, I HOPE he proves me wrong and runs right through Alves...but he cannot take this fight lightly. Alves has legit skills.
    • klmall
Worry not my friend....go watch St Pierres last few fights....amazing just amazing! GSP is true perfection in the octagon!!!!!!!!!
  • Regardless of GSP losing, so what? He will still be championship material. It can happen... Just not likely! If he were to have a bad night, again so what... He will still be my favorite and he will come back better yet! LONG LIVE GSP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take the "Pitbull" to the pound and ground him into hamburger!
  • jerseu_devil
Completely side note and random, but did you know Matt Serra hasn't been knocked down in EIGHT YEARS!? lol....ever since Shonie Carter hit him the trademark spinning backfist. weird.

Talk is so cheap. Not only that, but I noticed that a lot of fighters who talk smack change their tune after the fight and chalk it up to simply hype. Some will say it is good sportsmanship after a fight, but why can't it exist before a fight?
