Yahoo reported today that Anderson Silva has said that he plans to retire within the year. This would be a huge blow to the UFC and a major shock to the MMA world. So it got me to thinking about the most suprising athlete early retirements and where Silva would rank. And yes I am aware that there are tons more than have made my list so feel free to share yours.
5. Ricky Williams-Ricky is back now but when he suddenly quit the Dolphins to be a full time pothead I don't know many who weren't shocked.
4. Vince Young-Obviously he hasn't retired but we have all heard the talk about him quitting after his latest meltdown. We also heard talk about it after his rookie year as well. Vince is apparently fragile but considering how amazing he was in college his potential retirement is still pretty shocking.
3. Anderson Silva-He is the best the UFC has to offer and while suprising it is understandable given his bad knees and the potential he has to earn tons of money now t...

Tennessee Titans 26 Kansas City Chiefs 17
That was a very interesting game. It was good in the beginning with the Titans marching 60 yards on 10 plays for a touchdown, terrible in the middle, and good at the end. Vince Young had a really good day throwing for 191 yards with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran for...

2007 Football Recruiting Roundup: Texas Longhorns (Big 12)
Fantasy College Impact:
Only one 3-star QB recruit? This must mean Colt McCoy's job is pretty safe. McCoy had a terrific year after replacing the omnipotent Vince Young. Colt tossed for 2262 PaYd, 27 PaTD, 7 PaINT for the 2006 Rose Bowl Champions. In his second year commanding the offense, look for Colt to put up more impressive numbers.
The starting RB job...
Re: Michigan Hires Rodriguez of W. Virginia!
Pryor might be at UM next year. He might be at Ohio State. He might be somewhere else.In any case, there is no guarantee that he will be the second coming of Vince Young. Historically, UM and tOSU have had numerous great high school players that di...
Update on Roy Jones Vs. Anderson Silva
Roy Jones has taken the bout seriously and accepted. Anderson Silva wants to fight him at his own game and has taken it seriously. HOWEVER, Dana White hasn't bought the idea yet. Just like the Fedor-Couture deal looks like Dana is also looking to stop this mega-fight.
Hawk is back in the Yard
Hey Yardbarkers, what's up? So we've been at camp for a couple of weeks now, and I have to say it has been tough so far. It's a lot of work, but I know that I just have to push through. The hardest part for me has been not knowing what's next. As a rookie, you find yourself walking into a situation where a lot folks are pushing you to do this or go over here and...
Eric Moulds serves as mentor to VY
Here's a link to a nice article by ESPN's Jeffri Chadiha about Vince Young's progress late in the quarterback's second season. Titans receiver Eric Moulds has this to say about number 10:
"When he was in college, he was in an offense that was designed for him to run and throw. ...

Link FC's MMA Event in Wichita.....Picture of me and Anderson Silva
05/11/08 Saturday night I attended the Link Fighting Championship in Wichita Kansas. Let me say, Link FC knows how to put on a great show that is one of, if not the best, in the midwest. The event was star studded with guest referee David Heath, and the pound for pound top fighter in the world Anderson Silva. Before the fights even started, and aside from the big name guests in attendance...
Thoughts from "Oucho Cinco"
One of the other pieces of news to come out in the last few days, which I'm sure you've already heard, is that Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, Chad Johnson, has officially changed his name to Chad Ocho Cinco. That would stand for Chad "Eight Five", not Chad Ochenta y Cinco (feminine), which would be the correct pronunciation for what I believe he is trying to...
Fedor on Brock Lesnar
After this video, all I can say is wow! Fedor is always so calm and cool. He never seems out of place when talking about fighters or anything that is being said about him. His composure is similar to Anderson Silva.
In this video he talks about comments from Dana White about him and about Brock Lesnar. "Fight I would like to have" were his words translated.

The Bills Make Up A New Running Back
There have been a rash of injuries in football as of late. Two AFC East teams have been hit particularly hard. The Dolphins have had injuries to Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams and Jessie Chatman. If Chatman can't go this weekend, the Dolphins will be starting Samkon Gado. We've heard of Gado, he helped many fantasy teams with a good run in Green Bay a couple years back. He...
Is Demian Maia the UFC’s Middleweight Number One Contender?
Eight months ago I’d never heard of Demian Maia. Now the guy is running roughshod over the UFC’s middleweight division and is probably the number one contender to Anderson Silva’s title. You might ask; who the hell is this guy? And I might answer; three-time BJJ World Cup champion, two-time BJJ World Champion, and a BJJ Pan American champion in 2006. He then threw his hat into...
Nebraska Cornhuskers Taken to the Woodshed by the Missouri Tigers 41 to 6
Saturday night October 6, 2007 the Tigers of the Show-me State of Missouri took the Nebraska Cornhuskers to their woodshed and proceeded to administer a large can of wup-ass on the Big Red by the tone of 41 to 6. It wasn't losing so bad that I did not like, it was the lack of emotion on both sides of the ball and on the sidelines. I have been fairly outspoken about Bill Callahan...
