UFC middleweight Alan Belcher has been forced to withdraw from his main event matchup with Demian Maia at UFC Fight Night 22 due to a detached retina.
Belcher announced the news yesterday via Twitter.
“While I was in brazil I started losing my vision in my right eye. I saw a dr that told me to go back to us immediately. My friend/surgeon from biloxi got me an emergency surgery scheduled in alabama now just trying to recover. No contact for 6 weeks,” Belcher wrote.
A replacement for Belcher has not yet been announced, however, Maia stated on his Twitter account that he thinks he will still be fighting in the main event.
