Anderson Silva (pictured) has finally agreed to grant Chris Weidman a crack at his middleweight crown. On Wednesday, Newsday.com confirmed with UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta that the 185-pounders will headline UFC 162. The July 6 event takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada. Either Mandalay Bay Events Center or the larger MGM Grand Garden Arena will host the gig. Weidman has been publicly campaigning for the bout since steamrolling Mark Munoz in July. The 28-year-old believes he’s a “bad matchup” for Silva and that’s why the game’s most decorated champion has been “ducking” him. “All-American” owns a perfect 9-0 professional résumé. Weidman has been riding the pine since having shoulder surgery in November. Silva, meanwhile, has been actively pursuing a super-fight with welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre since schooling Stephan Bonnar at UFC 153.
