Contrary to what UFC president Dana White believes, or probably prefers, reigning middleweight king Anderson Silva (Pictured) will not enter the Octagon to challenge a victorious Georges St-Pierre this Saturday. According to Silva, he is merely attending UFC 154 as a respectful spectator. Oh, and get this, 185-pound contenders, the 37-year-old, who turns a ripe 38 in April, claims he doesn’t intend on fighting anyone until towards the end of 2013. Silva tells TATAME.com that he plans to take a break from competition and concentrate on his role in Sensei Steven Seagal’s action movie and the construction of his gym in Los Angeles. The rumor mill has been buzzing for the past several months that if GSP unifies the welterweight crown against interim champ Carlos Condit, a blockbuster bout between he and Silva could be arranged sometime at the beginning of the year. The scrap would mark the most anticipated in mixed martial arts history, with a massive venue like Cowboys Stadium serving as host. If Silva gets his way, it looks like he’ll only compete once in 2013. “The Spider” has only fought twice a year since 2009. On average, most healthy UFC champs defend their thrones three times each annual.
