This former welterweight failed to make weight for the third time in his UFC career in preparation for his bout with Vitor Belfort at UFC 142. Johnson weighed in at 197 pounds for his debut at 185 pounds. Johnson gassed out and was submitted by rear-naked choke at 4:49 of the first round. He made the move to 185 pounds in hope of avoiding weight cutting issues. "Three strikes and you're out," Dana White said in response to Johnson's inability to make weight. Robinson, Johnson's manager, said that he woke up only 5.5 pounds over weight and fell ill. Johnson received fluids to help with his condition only adding to his weight problem.
