Here is one of the several incredibly creepy pictures of Bas Rutten you can find on the internet

Bas Rutten decided to come out from under the rock he’s been living under to make some interesting comments about Fedor, Overeem, and Rogers. You really should know who Bas Rutten is because he’s a legend in the sport, but I’ll give you a quick bio. He was 28-4 as a professional fighter. He was the UFC heavyweight champion at one time, and was forced to retire later in his career because a lot of serious injuries. He went on to appear on different T.V. shows, he did color commentating for different MMA companies, and he was also announced in 2008 as the Vice President of the IFL. I personally liked his self-named ‘Rutten Jump’ when he would do splits in the air to each sides of the ring after he won his matches. (shown below)

Anyway, This is what Bas Rutten had to say (obviously translated):

What an evening yesterday huh? What an incredible brute Alistair is. He just threw Rogers around the ring, even the commentators said “Rogers thrown like a rag doll”, haha, what a force. I must also just say that he looked really good, you could see he was much quicker in his movements, so the weight is much better for him, and he has added power.”

“Hey Alistair, congratulations my friend, I wonder if Fedor’s camp will let him fight you.  I think you have shown them how dangerous you really are. I mean, Fedor struggled with Rogers, but he did nothing to you! So let’s hope they do it. It’s very easy, if he wants to be the champion, then it MUST happen! “To be the man, you have to beat the man!” Godspeed and party on!” – Bas (Click continue reading to see my perspective on Bas’ comments)

I like what he’s doing here. He is sort of indirectly calling out Fedor’s camp, and saying how impressive Overeem is BUT how he needs to fight the best to be the best. He’s giving incentive to both sides. Maybe this will help the fight happen? I doubt Bas has much pull in this stuff any more, but you never know? Fedor hasn’t really had much competition as of yet and it really seems like Overeem might be his best yet. I don’t personally think it really matters who Fedor fights until he gets to UFC or fights better competition in general but as of now that doesn’t seem to be any time soon. If this fight happens, it’d be great to see if Alistair Overeem can compete with one of the best fighters in the world… Fedor Emelinenko. At 33-11, not only does Overeem have the experience but he also won several fights in a row and looked impressive as of late. He also has a good amount of big name fights under his belt. Can Overeem be the guy to finally beat Fedor? …… Doubtful.
