Eddie Alvarez is officially the hottest free agent on the market.
In a mixed martial arts world controlled and dominated by the Ultimate Fighting Championship it’s hard to be considered one of the elite, especially at 155-pounds without locking horns with the top-ranked fighters under the Zuffa umbrella.
Alvarez has done exactly that, and it seems that he might finally step foot inside the UFC’s famed Octagon.
Last month he fulfilled his final commitment on his contract with Bellator Fighting Championships with a knock-down, drag-out brawl with Patricky “Pitbull” Freire that finished with Alvarez head kicking the Brazilian.
With the final fight of his Bellator contract over the top-ranked lightweight was open to speak with other parties, specifically the UFC whose top company figureheads Dana White and Lorezo Fertita had both expressed interest in the former Bellator king.
