Shortly after announcing his retirement from mixed martial arts, BJ Penn (Pictured) stated he might one day return “if it interests me, if it excites me.” Unfortunately for fight fans, a shootout against Josh Koscheck just ain’t gonna cut it.
On Thursday night, Koscheck claimed the UFC had offered him a bout against the former multi-divisional champion. He gladly accepted and was simply waiting for Penn to comply.
Don’t hold your breath, per “The Prodigy.”
“@joshkoscheck I know it costs a lot of money to live that lavish lifestyle, big house, fast cars & you need big fights but sorry I’m not coming back anytime soon!” Penn tweeted Thursday afternoon.
Last month, Penn slammed the door on the possibility of a comeback by claiming he’s more intrigued with chasing his two infant daughters around than another UFC title. However, UFC president Dana White came out just days later and revealed Penn had notified him, “‘Nah, I want to fight again.’”
The 33-year-old Hawaiian owns a 16-8-2 professional record. Penn is the only athlete to don both the UFC welterweight and lightweight belts.
