Late Wednesday night, a light heavyweight rematch between Brandon Vera (Pictured) and Thiago Silva was announced for “UFC on FX 3.” Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia hosts the May 15th show.
Silva initially posted a lopsided unanimous decision victory over Vera at UFC 125 on New Year’s Day in 2011. However, the Brazilian subsequently flunked his drug test and had his win overturned to a no contest.
He was also issued a year-long suspension and fined $2,500 by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Vera was originally released from the UFC following the defeat, but was given a new lease on life after Silva’s cheating ways came to light. “The Truth” bounced back at UFC 137 by hanging a unanimous decision over Eliot Marshall.
Both 205-pounders have been clamoring for a do-over ever since Silva’s fake urine was revealed.
