After Rory MacDonald trounced BJ Penn at UFC on FOX 5, he demanded to have a rematch against Carlos Condit (Pictured). The former interim welterweight champion was more than willing to oblige, but unfortunately for both parties, MacDonald was forced to withdraw from UFC 158 on Monday with an injury.  Fortunately for Condit, he’s been in high demand. Johny Hendricks also called him out recently, and as luck may have it, that’s “The Natural Born Killer’s” new assignment on March 16th. “While I was disappointed to hear that Rory MacDonald is injured, I am glad that the UFC was able to find a strong replacement for the fight in Johny Hendricks,” Condit expressed in a statement released by his management. “He is one of the toughest welterweights in the world and has quickly risen up the ladder in our division. “We are similar in that we like to stay active and aggressive in our fights, so this should be a great fight for the fans to watch.” After winning the interim welterweight crown, Condit wanted to wait for 170-pound king Georges St-Pierre to return from knee surgery so they could have a title unification bout. However, after discovering GSP might be out for an extended period, Condit contemplated a contest against Martin Kampmann. Hendricks was none too pleased to be getting bypassed and took to Twitter with his challenge. “Bigg Rigg” was never offered the opportunity because Condit decided to ride the pine until St-Pierre came back. Although, Hendricks will get his shot now. “I have been training for Rory MacDonald, but there is plenty of time left to switch my focus to Hendricks,” Condit added. “With eight weeks left, I will need every moment to be fully prepared for this battle. He’s called me out in the past, and now is his chance to try to back that talk up. “I’ll be ready for him.” UFC 158 takes place inside Bell Centre in Montreal. The 170-pound shootout co-headlines the pay-per-view broadcast.
