And that’s why UFC President Dana White stacked UFC 158 with six top welterweights. Shortly after reports surfaced an undisclosed injury forced Rory MacDonald out of his rematch against Carlos Condit (Pictured), the promotion will now have “The Natural Born Killer” fight Johny Hendricks in the March 16th event.
Neil Davidson of the Canadian Press first reported the matchup, which the UFC subsequently confirmed by re-tweeting his post.
Hendricks was originally slated to face Jake Ellenberger inside Bell Centre in Montreal. Ellenberger is expected to remain in the lineup. No word on who “The Juggernaut” will now meet up north.
Condit is victorious in three of his last four, but lost a title unification bout to reigning 170-pound king Georges St-Pierre in November.
Hendricks thought he earned next dibs at the 170-pound hardware by putting Martin Kampmann to sleep at UFC 154. The wrestler turned slugger has rattled off five consecutive victories.
Condit and Hendricks now co-headline the pay-per-view broadcast.
