No fight team had more on the line at UFC 156 than the talented Blackzilians. The squad’s top two superstars were on display: Alistair Overeem (Pictured) returned from a nine-month steroid suspension would have earned a shot at Cain Velasquez’s heavyweight crown with a win over Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, while Rashad Evans could have found himself in a tango with middleweight king Anderson Silva had he defeated Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in the show’s co-featured attraction. Unfortunately for the Boca Raton teammates, they both found themselves leaving Las Vegas in disappointment. Overeem was winning his fight until Bigfoot turned up the heat in the third round. Before anyone realized the rally they were witnessing, “The Demolition Man” was unconscious on the canvas. Evans, a 5-to-1 odds-on favorite, didn’t fare much better in his unanimous decision defeat to Little Nog. Neither of the MMA icons impressed UFC president Dana White, and of course, the boss didn’t bite his tongue afterwards. “Blackzilians didn’t represent [at UFC 156],” White stated following Saturday’s press conference. “It was a bad night for them. In the first round, [Overeem] was running into a clinch. He wasn’t throwing anything. Running into a clinch, his hands were down by his knees. Yeah, it was a weird fight. “I don’t know if he thought he could out-slick him and … I don’t know what he thought. He looked terrible. Both of them looked out of shape. Rashad did nothing but this all night (mimics catching jab with hand). They had a bad night. They probably got to reevaluate some things in their camp.” During his rant, White delved further into the Blackzilian roster and discovered another one of their studs was far from spectacular in his last outing, as well. White did spotlight Vitor Belfort as the only member from the star-studded crew to perform up to expectations of late. “I think [Overeem] looked terrible [Saturday]. Rashad’s a great fighter, Rashad looked terrible, [too]. Yeah, I agree [Melvin Guillard wasn't good in his loss to Jamie Varner],” White said in closing. “They’ve got some work to do down there at Blackzilians. They’ve got some work to do. Vitor [looked good against Michael Bisping], but they didn’t look good.” UFC light heavyweight king Jon Jones also noticed the team wasn’t up to par this weekend. “Interesting night for the Blackzilians,” Jones tweeted following Evans’ loss. Former head coach Mike Van Arsdale reportedly left the Blackzilians last August so he could be closer to his family in Arizona. Mario Sperry is now the team’s new ringleader. His assistant is MMA veteran Jorge Santiago.

UFC 156 Fighter Salaries, Attendance & Gate

Dana White might be critical of his performance, but that didn't stop the UFC from making Rashad Evans the highest paid fighter at UFC 156.  In a losing effort Evans took home $300,000 (if he had won he would have earned another $210,000). Here is the official fighter purse info for UFC 156, released from the Nevada Athletic Commission. Read more ...

Dana White reveals behind-the-scenes details of ‘lying’ Randy Couture’s FOX defection

When former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture put pen to paper last week and joined the ranks of Spike TV, UFC President Dana White said he was happy. Not happy as in "Good for him," happy as in "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out." As it turns out, the Las Vegas fight boss already...

Antonio Bigfoot Silva KO’s Alistair Overeem At UFC 156 (GIF)

The fight looked pretty even going into the last round between Antonio Bigfoot Silva and Alistair Overeem.  Silva had no intentions of letting the judges take this fight into their own hands.  Silva knocked the crap out of Overeem in round 4 and scored the KO victory. Overeem's head looked like a punching bag, and I couldn't believe how long he kept standing up and taking...

UFC 156: Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva Batters Alistair Overeem for TKO Win (Video Highlights)

Alistair Overeem certainly talked the talk leading up to Saturday’s shootout against Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva (Pictured), and for the opening two rounds “The Demolition Man” walked the walk. Unfortunately for Overeem, the third frame came rolling around and Bigfoot blitzed him with a barrage of bombs that abruptly put an end to his night. Not to mention his shot at the...

Frankie Edgar Undecided, but Dana White Says Former UFC Champ Done at Lightweight

After losing another championship fight via decision where he thought he had done enough to win, a disappointed Frankie Edgar (Pictured) said it was too soon to decide whether he’d return to the lightweight division where he recently held the title or remain in the featherweight class. Unfortunately (or fortunately) for “The Answer,” UFC president Dana White saw enough in Saturday’s...

Uriah Hall Knocks Out Adam Cella With Brutal Round 1 Kick

Wow. Just, wow. The roundhouse kick that Uriah Hall planted right on the side of Adam Cella’s head was one of the worst looking KO’s we’ve seen in a long time. The fight was aired during last night’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter 17. Hall, who has already been impressing UFC brass, showed no hesitation. A mere :06-seconds into the match and he had already connected with...

UFC 156: Aldo wins, Overeem KO'd

The disappointment that was the match between Rashad Evans and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is exactly what was needed prior to the fierce showdown that was Aldo vs. Edgar. Don't confuse this. Ideally all of the fights at UFC 156 would have been outstanding. However, having a letdown (a unanimous decision won by "Little Nog") just before the UFC Featherweight Title bout...

UFC 156: Brazillians win the night, Overeem the biggest loser.

What a weekend for sports.  Phil Mickelson just missed a 59 and won his event start to finish.  There was a minor sporting event in New Orleans dealing with the Ravens and the 49ers.  And an absolutely fantastic card showed on Saturday night as UFC 156 put on a great show.  It was one of the evenings where the Brazilians carried the night, winning most if not all of the highly...
