Junior Dos Santos UFC

Alistair Overeem secured his date with destiny by viciously disposed of Brock Lesnar last weekend at UFC 141. Now that he’s solidified his top contender status, the only question remaining is when will his shootout with heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos (Pictured) take place?

According to UFC president Dana White, fanboys can expect to see fireworks in roughly six months should everything fall into place.

“Junior dos Santos could fight Alistair Overeem, hopefully in the summer,” White stated on Tuesday’s premiere of UFC on Today. “Alistair wants to take some time off. Dos Santos is ready but needs to get some training in.

“This summer is probably when it’s going to go down.”

Last week, dos Santos told us that his surgically-repaired left knee is coming along faster than expected. The newly-crowned king is hoping to resume training at full strength as early as this Saturday.

As far as Overeem goes, his UFC debut was many years in the making. While stockpiling wins in several non-Octagon organizations, White refused to acknowledge him as one of the planet’s best 265-ponders. Since witnessing “The Demolition Man’s” destruction of Lesnar firsthand, White has been thoroughly humbled by his latest superstar acquisition.

“I was impressed by Overeem – I’ve been talking about him a lot and not in a positive way, and now I’m eating crow,” White admitted. “Without a doubt, he’s one of the top three heavyweights in the world.”
