UFC president Dana White previously stated UFC 158 features an unofficial welterweight tournament because Saturday’s card showcases three critical 170-pound scraps, which include several of the division’s elite fighters and the weight class’ king in Georges St-Pierre. Well, if we were going to break out our brackets, Carlos Condit (pictured) and Johny Hendricks would be paired right under St-Pierre and Nick Diaz. During Thursday’s pre-fight press conference in Montreal, White promised the victor of Condit vs. Hendricks will get next dibs at the welterweight throne. “I actually really like this fight with Carlos Condit,” White said of Hendericks’ impending shootout. “The guy who comes out of this fight the winner is definitely the #1 contender.” This is nothing new for Hendricks, as White previously dubbed “Bigg Rigg” the welterweight top contender after putting Martin Kampmann to sleep in November only to change course shortly after. As far as Condit goes, it would give him the opportunity to don another belt. The former interim champion lost a title unification bout to St-Pierre in his last outing. Hendricks is a slight -140 odds-on favorite, while “The Natural Born Killer” comes in just behind as a +110 underdog. UFC 158 takes place Saturday at UFC 158. Hendricks and Condit serve as the show’s co-featured attraction. St-Pierre defends his crown against bitter rival Nick Diaz in the main event.

Condit thrives on challenges

Carlos Condit's curiosity about mixed martial arts took him to a phone book in his native Albuquerque. "I found Jackson's Submission Fighting," Condit told FOXSports.com. "The name hadn't been changed to Jackson's MMA yet." In high school, Condit engaged in wrestling, a sport that seemed tame compared to his introduction to MMA as a 9-year-old...

Condit on Hendricks: “He’s a more dangerous version of the one-punch, KO wrestler that Hendo is.”

Comparing someone to a more dangerous Dan Henderson is like duct-taping an A-Bomb to another A-Bomb then dropping it on your target. Or I guess in this case it would like be tying two H-Bombs together, whatever works. As the sport we love moves into it’s second decade of existence, we are only now tapping into the potential of MMA’s talent. Take Johny Hendricks, a young, NCAA...

Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz Get Heated Over Hotel Lobby Altercation

When UFC president Dana White revealed Wednesday that Nick Diaz had harassed welterweight king Georges St-Pierre (pictured) in the hotel lobby after UFC 137, some fans thought White simply had his promoter’s cap on trying to douse more fuel onto the already white-hot fire. Well, it appears there was plenty of truth behind White’s tale. “First of all, I don’t think [St-Pierre...

Hendricks told FOXSports.com he's lost to Saturday's UFC 158 opponent, Carlos Condit, several times in his mind already. "He's gotten me in an armbar. He's knocked me out,"...

Nick Diaz has said a lot of things about Georges St-Pierre but his newest attack may be the one that gets under GSP’s skin most. Diaz is now accusing GSP of being on steroids and is openly questioning whether the champ is being tested or not.
