George Roop has suffered an undisclosed injury during training which has forced him out his scheduled bout against Antonio Carvalho at UFC 149. UFC officials announced on Tuesday that Daniel Pineda will step in for Roop to take on Carvalho in the featherweight clash.

Pineda (17-8) burst into the UFC at the beginning of the year with first round submission wins in his first two fights. He defeated Pat Schilling by rear-naked choke at UFC on FX 1 in January then followed that up with a triangle-armbar finish of Mackens Semerzier at UFC on FX 2. In his most recent outing at UFC 146, Pineda would drop a unanimous decision to Mike Thomas Brown.

Canadian Carvalho (13-5) will be making his second appearance inside the Octagon. He will look to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Felipe Arantes at UFC 142 which had put an end to a three fight winning streak.

UFC 149 takes place from the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Canada on July 21st. The event will be headlined by a interim lightweight title bout between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao.
