Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos are currently in the midst of preparing to collide with each other at UFC 131 to determine the next contender for UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, while a mildly entertaining season of The Ultimate Fighter 13 featuring the two men as coaches slowly forces fans to wonder what happened to the show that was once actually compelling.
The bout against Lesnar was, of course, supposed to be a title shot against Velasquez before the undefeated champion was put out of action with an injury. According to Dos Santos’ manager Ed Soares, the fight with Lesnar is actually a bigger fight than one with the champion:
“To be 100-percent honest with you, I think the Brock Lesnar fight is actually a bigger fight. From the standpoint of how many people are going to buy the pay-per-view and watching it. Not taking anything away from Cain Velasquez nor Junior Dos Santos, but I think sometimes things work out for the best.”
