Two STRIKEFORCE mixed martial artist greats will team up tomorrow/Friday, May 27 – outside the cage.
Frank Shamrock, STRIKEFORCE’s first middleweight champion in history, and rising women’s star Miesha “Takedown” Tate will film a rape prevention video at a studio in Los Angeles.
To help educate potential victims, Shamrock, who fights in STRIKEFORCE’s 185-pound middleweight division, will play the role of an attacker, while Tate, who competes in STRIKEFORCE’s 135-pound women’s welterweight division, will demonstrate self-defense moves against the larger Shamrock.
In addition to the self-defense techniques, the DVD will include interviews with high-profile rape victims, who will share their share their stories of being attacked.
The DVD is part of Tate’s Take Down Enterprises, an organization that aims to educate the public on the history of mixed martial arts and the reasons for the sport’s rapid rise in popularity.
In her last effort, the 24-year-old Tate (9-2) submitted Zoila Frausto with an armbar in the second round of their fierce grudge match at STRIKEFORCE Challengers, live on SHOWTIME® from Fresno, Calif. on March 26. Tate handed the tough Frausto her first defeat.
Shamrock competes in the middleweight division, but has spent the last year as the dynamic, animated, astute color commentator for live CBS and SHOWTIME televised STRIKEFORCE MMA events.
