By Jacob Camargo October 13, 2009An all Brazilian heavyweight showdown between former UFC heavyweight title challenger Gabriel Gonzaga and rising contender Junior dos Santos will likely happen at UFC's traditional year-end event, UFC 108 on Jan. 2. Both men have verbally agreed to the bout according to MMAWeekly.com.
As previously reported, Gonzaga vs. dos Santos was first being considered for UFC 107 on Dec. 12, however, it is likely the UFC felt that moving the bout to UFC 108 was needed because UFC 107 has already been lined up with enough pay-per-view quality fights.
Gonzaga (11-4) is 3-1 in his last four bouts and most recently defeated Chris Tuchscherer via first round TKO at UFC 102 in August in a bout that was marred by a brutal low-blow by Gonzaga. His only loss during the stretch came against current UFC heavyweight title challenger Shane Carwin at UFC 96 in March.
