The UFC welterweight champion GSP will be cast in the upcoming film ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’. He will be playing the villain “Batroc the Leaper”, who is a mercenary and master of French kickboxing known as savate.
GSP’s last fight was at UFC 158 against Nick Diaz where he defended his welterweight title, but now it looks like he will be doing some kickboxing in purple tights. His character Georges Batroc (known as Batroc the Leaper) first appeared in Marvel comics in 1966 and since then appeared mainly in the Captain America comics, but has also been an adversary for Spiderman, The Punisher, Deadpool, Hawkeye, Ironfist, and Gambit. His specialties and capabilities match up perfectly with GSP, so any concerns of whether or not he is a good fit for the role should be immediately rejected. And all GSP has to do is speak a little French and kick a few people through a wall. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Hopefully GSP will be able to add a little more to the Captain America series as an actor who actually has an extensive resume in his own hero’s powers. In being in tip top physical condition at the height of his career, I seem to think that Captain America will have his hands full. Im saying first round KO.
See what I mean?
