Fights are chaotic by nature, and there are usually numerous factors involved in determining the outcome of any given fight. At the same time, you can often identify the overriding factor that gives the victor a win. Let's try to do that with the three headliner fights in UFC 87 : 1. Georges St. Pierre over Jon Fitch via unanimous decision : Superiority in every aspect There is no other way to put this. Jon Fitch is a fine fighter, but Georges St. Pierre is simply on another level. When they were standing, St. Pierre looked like his boxing idol Marco Antonio Barrera when he punched and Cro Cop when he kicked. When they were wrestling, St. Pierre totally pinned Fitch underneath. When they were groundfighting, St. Pierre became the first person to pass Fitch's guard and escaped when he was caught underneath. It got so bad that St. Pierre even tagged Fitch hard with a spinning backfist in the fifth round. The only thing missing was a knockout, which makes me wonder if Georges St. Pierre is a sadist. 2. Brock Lesnar over Heath Herring via unanimous decision : Physical superiority 3. Kenny Florian over Roger Huerta via unanimous decision : Discipline All in all, three tales of sadistic beatings administered by fighters with overwhelmingly dominant strengths. Agree or disagree with my assessment, let your thoughts be known. After all, this is a brainteaser! ( Breakdowns of Lesnar vs. Herring and Florian vs. Huerta after the jump! )
