The big question coming into tonight's Bellator Summer Series debut was how would King Mo come back from Emanuel Newton's stunning spinning back fist that knocked him out of the Season 8 Bellator light heavyweight tournament. Would Mo go back to relying on his NCAA Division II wrestling credentials that got him to where he is today? Or would he stand and trade with the 'Kimbo Killer' himself, Seth Petruzelli?
It would turn out to be a combination of both. After 'The Silverback' avoided Lawal's first TD attempt in a strange sequence that involved a sprawl, and an accidental headbutt that forced 'Big' John McCarthy to stop the fight for a moment, Mo was able to score the first takedown of the fight. Petruzelli was able to land a couple of shots off his back but it would be a monster right from the King that would finish the fight. Lawal knew what he had done, no more unnecessary shots would be needed, Petruzelli was out and wouldn't be coming to to his senses for quite some time.
