The UFC escaped fan outrage on this night but it did have to hear Forrest Griffin and Tito Ortiz bickering about injuries after the fight. Ortiz came in with a badly blackened eye that he suffered on Nov. 9 in training. That cut down on his sparring in the two weeks before the fight and it showed. The fight went to the third round even on two scorecards but has nothing left in the gas. Griffin played target practice with his Ortiz' face and won a split decision 30-27, 29-28 and 28-29 in the light heavyweight bout to close UF 106 in Las Vegas.
