Former UFC lightweight Hermes Franca Barros (Pictured) has been sentences to 42 Months in jail for sexually assaulting an underage female student at his martial arts academy in Clackamas, Oregon.
According to The Oregonian, the 37-year-old pleaded guilty this past Wednesday to one count of unlawful penetration and one count of first-degree sexual abuse.
Franca was arraigned in May on seven counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of second-degree unlawful sexual penetration. However, as part of his plea agreement the remaining charges were dismissed.
After Franca gets out of the pen, will also have four-and-a-half years of post-prison supervision and must register as a sex offender.
Maximum Fighting Championship had inked Franca to a multi-fight contract last year, but immediately released the veteran following his arrest.
The Brazilian holds a 22-12 professional mixed martial artist record and competed off-and-on for the UFC between 2003 and 2009. The highlight of his Octagon career came at UFC 73 when he fought Sean Sherk for the lightweight title.
Franca subsequently failed a post-fight drug test following his unanimous decision loss.
