Dana White has gone back on his word once again. But this time it is a positive thing. The UFC's head honcho has long been an opponent of women fighting in the UFC - he said it would never happen. But with the swirling rumours that Strikeforce is going to close up shop early next year and the UFC is going to annex its fighter roster, including its women fighters, it seems that "never" is here.
But all that is being publicized about this move is that Ronda Rousey is the first female fighter in UFC history. Huh? Am I missing something here? Correct me if I'm wrong, but last time I checked a UFC fight involved two people. Rousey is one person. She needs to fight someone, and I'm imagining it isn't going to be a guy (although would it really be shocking if Chael Sonnen talked his way into a fight with her?!). So Rousey being the first - and only - female fighter in UFC history is a bit pointless. She needs to fight someone.
