Although tickets for “UFC Fight Night 25: Battle on the Bayou” just went on sale this morning, it didn’t stop the Gambling Gods from dropping their two cents on the card’s featured attraction. A pivotal welterweight scrap between Jake Ellenberger (Pictured) and Jake Shields will headline the freebie fight card.
For the first time in his last five Octagon outings, Ellenberger will step into the cage as an underdog. The talented 26-year-old has rattled of four consecutive victories, with his most recent coming in a quick knockout of Sean Pierson at UFC 129 in April.
Speaking of the record-setting event, Shields headlined the card opposite welterweight king Georges St-Pierre. Although the former Strikeforce middleweight champ was the first fighter to win a round against GSP since Josh Koscheck did it in August 2007, Shields ultimately lost the war and had his 15-fight winning streak snapped.
Ellenberger checks in as a minor +140 underdog, while Shields is slightly less than a 2-to-1 favorite to leave Louisiana with a victory.
