Former WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner is in talks to join the star-studded WEC 48 pay-per-view event against Kamal Shalorus on April 24 from the Arco Arena, in Sacramento, Calif., according to MMAWeekly. Varner was perfect in four fights under the WEC banner, including a hard-fought technical decision over nemesis Donald Cerrone back in January 2009. After recovering from injuries suffered in his fight against "Cowboy," "C-4" imploded under the relentless assault of Ben Henderson to cough up the title at WEC 46 just last month. His road back to the WEC 155-pound championship begins with Kamal Shalorus. The "Prince of Persia" is 2-0 for the WEC (6-0-1 overall) and like Varner, appeared at the Versus TV event back on January 10. Shalorus outworked Dave Jansen en route to a unanimous decision victory to earn what is undoubtedly a major step up in competition.
