Joey Beltran and Rousimar Palhares Flunk ‘UFC on FX 6′ Drug Tests

As the old adage adage, “If you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t tryin.’ Well, there sure have been a lot of UFC fighters TRYIN’ lately. On Thursday evening, the planet’s premier mixed martial arts promotion announced Joey Beltran (Pictured) and Rousimar Palhares both flunked their “UFC on FX 6” drug tests. “Rousimar Palhares tested positive for elevated testosterone and Joey Beltran tested positive for nandrolone, following their respective bouts at UFC on FX 6 in Australia,” the UFC expressed in a statement. “The UFC organization has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents. “Both athletes have agreed to serve a nine-month suspension retroactive to December 14. They must pass a drug test upon completion of the suspension before receiving clearance to compete again.” Beltran posted a unanimous decision win over Igor Pokrajac in the card’s prelims. That victory will likely be overturned to a no contest. Palhares, meanwhile, was TKO’d by Hector Lombard in the opening round of their middleweight shootout. ‘UFC on FX 6′ took place December 13th inside Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Because Australia lacks a governing body for MMA, UFC vice president of regulatory affairs Marc Ratner oversaw the event on the promotion’s behalf. Beltran and Palhares join Thiago Silva, Dave Herman and Stephan Bonnar to fail drug exams administered by the UFC since October.
