UFC officials have announced a pair of exciting bouts for December’s UFC on FOX 5 as heavyweights Lavar Johnson and Brendan Scaub will face off, while Mike Swick meets Matt Brown in a welterweight contest.
Also announced for the card is a pair of lightweight bouts between Daron Cruickshank and Henry Martinez as well as Tim Means vs. Abel Trujillo. Both bouts were scheduled to take place at this weekend’s cancelled UFC 151.
Johnson is coming off a first-round submission loss to Stefan Struve at UFC 146 after picking up two straight first-round knockouts over Pat Barry and Joey Beltran.
Schaub is looking to get back on the winning track after two consecutive first-round knockout losses to Ben Rothwell and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Prior to the two-fight skid, Schaub had won four in a row.
After a lengthy layoff due to injury and illness, Swick returned at UFC on FOX 4, knocking out DaMarques Johnson in the second round. He is 5-2 since dropping to wlterweight in 2008.
Brown makes his return to the Octagon on the heels of a three-fight winning streak. Most recently he defeated Luis Ramos at UFC on FX 4 in June.
UFC on FOX 5 takes place December 8th from the KeyArena in Seattle, Washington, headlined by a UFC lightweight title bout between Benson Henderson and Nate Diaz.
