Light heavyweight king Jon Jones (pictured) wasn’t the first UFC fighter to be sponsored by Nike, but “Bones” is the only Octagon athlete to have his own signature shoe with Team Swoosh.
The Nike Free Trainer 5.0 (Jon “Bones” Jones edition) launched last Friday and reportedly sold out within minutes.
“Thank you to everyone who supported us today,” Jones’ manager Malki Kawa wrote on Instagram. “Shoes sold out in less than 2 minutes!!!”
Nike clearly did a solid job of hyping Jones’ first shoe, so it’s only right the athletic clothing giant continue the promotional hoopla by releasing his first solo commercial.
Jones defends his throne against Chael Sonnen tomorrow at UFC 159. No word if Nike will offer a new “Bones Jones” line annually or before each fight.
